IMSc Post Wise Qualification & Age Limit
Project Associate – I
- Number of Posts: 01
- Age Limit: 40 years; upper age relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST, +3 years for OBC (NCL), +10 years for Persons with Disabilities (UR), +13 years for Persons with Disabilities (OBC-NCL), +15 years for Persons with Disabilities (SC/ST), and for Ex-Servicemen as per Government norms.
- Education Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences or Master’s degree in Natural Sciences or B.Tech degree from a recognised university. Candidates must have cleared a national eligibility test such as CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, JAM or JEST.
- Pay Scale: Only Bachelor Degree without experience – Rs.32,500/-, Bachelor Degree with two or more years of experience – Rs.48,000/-, MSc/BE/B.Tech without experience – Rs.48,000/-.
Project Assistant (Physics/Biology/Mathematics/Chemistry)
- Number of Posts: 01
- Age Limit: 40 years; upper age relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST, +3 years for OBC (NCL), +10 years for Persons with Disabilities (UR), +13 years for Persons with Disabilities (OBC-NCL), +15 years for Persons with Disabilities (SC/ST), and for Ex-Servicemen as per Government policy.
- Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Physics, Biology, Mathematics or Chemistry or B.Tech/M.Tech from a reputed University or Institute. Research work relevant to the project is required. Familiarity with machine learning and data science is desirable.
- Pay Scale: Rs.48,000/- for those with less than 2 years of experience, Rs.54,500/- for those with more than 2 years of experience.
Project Assistant (Life Sciences/Bioinformatics/Environmental Sciences/Computational Biology)
- Number of Posts: 02
- Age Limit: 40 years; upper age relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST, +3 years for OBC (NCL), +10 years for Persons with Disabilities (UR), +13 years for Persons with Disabilities (OBC-NCL), +15 years for Persons with Disabilities (SC/ST), and for Ex-Servicemen as per Government rules.
- Education Qualification: Master’s degree in Life Sciences or Bioinformatics or Environmental Sciences or Computational Biology from a reputed university or institute with research experience relevant to the project. Knowledge of manual curation of biological datasets, chemical spaces and/or network science is desirable. Candidates having published research articles in reputed international journals are desirable. The selected candidate will work with the project investigator Prof. Areejit Samal.
- Pay Scale: Rs.48,000/- for those with less than 2 years of experience, Rs.54,500/- for those with more than 2 years of experience.
Administrative Trainee

- Education Qualification: Any bachelor degree with First Class and good English knowledge. Candidates should have passed out during 2023, 2024 and 2025 only. The candidate should possess good working knowledge in MS-Office tools, email operations and accounting procedure.
- Pay Scale: Rs.20,000/-.
System Trainee
- Number of Posts: 01
- Age Limit: 18 to 25 years; upper age relaxation: +5 years for SC/ST, +3 years for OBC (NCL), +10 years for Persons with Disabilities (UR), +13 years for Persons with Disabilities (OBC-NCL), +15 years for Persons with Disabilities (SC/ST), and for Ex-Servicemen as per Government orders.
- Education Qualification: Should have completed one of the degrees – Bachelor Degree in Science (Physics/Mathematics/Computer Science/IT) or Bachelor Degree in Computer Applications or Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Computer Science/ECE/EEE/IT) from a reputed College or Institution with minimum 60% marks in aggregate of all years/semesters. Should have passed out during 2023, 2024 and 2025 only.
